The Women’s Budget Group (WBG) is a network of leading academic researchers, policy analysts and activists that analyses economic policy for its impact on different groups of women and men, promotes policies that will increase gender equality and works to build the capacity of women to take part in economic debates. WBG are widely recognised for their well-respected, academically robust analysis of the gender impact of economic policy, which is used by politicians, policy makers and civil society organisations.
WBG are conducting research to explore the gender gap in access to civil legal justice. There is some evidence to show that women are differently, and disproportionately, impacted by financial, structural and policy changes which have been implemented in the civil legal justice system in England and Wales since 2012. However, the extent of these gendered impacts, and other equality impacts, has not been fully explored. This survey will provide important evidence for our research to help us ascertain the extent of the impact of these financial cuts and structural changes on women – particularly low income women, Black and minority ethnic (BME) women, disabled women, migrant women and lone mothers.
This survey contains 15 questions and will take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete. Please answer as fully as possible. Your responses will be completely confidential and we will not ask you to provide your name or address. However, if you are willing to help us further with this research (via short 1-2-1 interviews or roundtable discussions), please include your name and email on a separate form at the end of this questionnaire. These details will be immediately separated from your question responses to protect your anonymity.
Please note that if the question does not include an option that you think is important, there is an opportunity to add it at the end of most questions, including the end of the survey.
